And There Was Road Travel
So after a few weeks back in rainey wet Oregon I did a massive road trip to Pheonix to meet up with Pa Pa Z at Willy Z's place for some serious ridding days. As usual only allowing myself the scant amount of time to get some place I drove 1,000 miles in one day to Palm Springs, ariving around 2 in the a.m. completley shot i crawaled in the back of the canopy and slept like crap for 4 hours then up and on off down the road. Z-man and I showed up about the same time and got a hour an a half of slow spin in then the next day sence it was cool in the mornings we late started retirement style and got abot 3 hours in then another 3 day into a 73 mile day. This went on for 6 days then a sopposeble rest day with a easy hike in the supersition mountains that turned into a hert fest up hill tell one of us called uncle, ye the testy thing as always with z and I or stupid for a better word. Then off to Tucson which was an easier 2 hours then off to Cycling House where Owen,Brendon, Hidi and Drew oh and the Shrock invited us in on a bontidied great steak salad dinner, great campers to visit with and led or tutored by Peter Lambros on wines, great evening.
Next day was a hole different ball game, the Cycling house were planning on a sinoe day with the finnish being Kit peak with the some pretty eye opening gradiant.Z and I started in a different spot called 3 point then off 33 miles to meet up with the crew and we did and paced line back to 3 point then off another 20 or so to the entry level of kit, holly hot foot and no more power half way up and peeps were passin me like I really was going back ward. I an a few others did crest the top but was a totol mess in the mind and body. Z and I went back to the hotel found noodel food 2 gin an tonics which brought some funny behavior then the polar bear plung in the pool that had water straight from Missoula-shrinkage oh my.
Alrighty then next day with really nothing left for conquring Mt. Lemon we were just gonna try and make it to Windy Point, well right away I was doomed with worn out tires and not the energy to find a shop open on a sunday for new ones on I went poping 3 tubes through the tire even with a bit of a boot. I turned back with about a 20 mile net and Z went on.
This was are last day of mindless over usage of body parts before Z went back to the Zoo and I to Yuma to visit and rest at Ma Ma's. One day of that then I was off doing a get lost, scutel and ruin myself hike. Fealling real wore out after I started fgetting a butt kicken cold and flew with all by amunities shot to hell I'm going on 2 weeks and still have dead lungage.
I traveld to Scottsdale after Yuma and stayed with Julie at Dastanation Oregon at a blingie Marriot that I totolly got lost in more than once. Then off to Sadona a place I had not been to before and wow it is a spiritial beautiful fairy like place. Got a few good hikes in then off to Vegas where Julie was to help out with the Beavs get together before the pac 12 basketball championship started. We went to the game and some time during a tv time out the MC dude ask for compatition of aisels and who could be the loudest for tickets to ka a circuc olae thing so any way we won and the tics were like 150.00 a pieace and one of the neatest things I have ever seen.
I actully started trying to ride even with the bad lungage,it went alright in the
Red Rock park and one around Bolder City. Then road trip back through Reno to Corvallis Or. Back in the rain and lack of sun dam. Will be heading back to the Zoo for work next week, then I really have to adapt to roller coaster weather for a bit. It's all good I need to stay in one place for awhile, kinda road weary. ML

Hawaiian Punch Time
So alot to say sence last blogging. I did mention and show a little visit to Seattle area then off to Zoo town for a short 3 days where I only saw a few friends breifley. Gotta say I miss the peeps in Montana and the winter stuff like nordic sking but the full on teeth chatering thing, well I did not adapt well to the warm in doors then the in your face but crampen cold.
That brings me to my warm your hole body and stay that way journey to Kona Hawaii. Wow I know I'm amamby pamby but really that is the ticket for comfort. Walking around real comphy like in a short sleeve, shorts and flip flops could be a full on 365 for me pretty easy.
The beaching in swim suits and not to mention some that look real good in them. A thing you see alot of is athletic cut peeps alot. i snorkeled about three times on thease beach outings and after the butt pucker afect with a bit to much wet suit going where it shouldn't I enjoyed the views and feal emincley.
We stayed with Jon an Jackie while in Kona. He has a beautiful large home here he rents to vacationers that will sleep ten peeps. The lani and pool padio over looking the ocean with spectaculer views of sun sets, boating, big cruise ships at times and great sightings of whales breaching this time of the year.We had very nice an relaxing evenings on thease decks with a beverage of choice.
Jon had one of his old Giants and jackie her 50cm road bike there so fist day circus act saw me trying to ride this minie version with bad results in the look feal and after achs. Next day we went to a locol shop and I rented Kestrel carbon roadie for two days and got 3 rides out of the deal.We decide to do the rumor has it close to the hardest seven an a half mile climb of any with between 5 an 18 percent gradeant the whole way.It started out not so bad but then came the switch backs then the rain which caused a bit of a spineaspeacially i the switches due to all my very hidden torc. I have never had to use so much leverage so many times on a climb. The last half mile was an all out gut check but the end result is the best fealling that we have had here and there. The main climb is Koloko Drive look it up some time , there are some good club and group ride atempts articles on this beast. Sayen a little somthing 2012
So it's been so long I forgot a thing or two about how to blog so cruise with me. About four days after I wrote the last blog I was for some reason after being sick from staying up alnight doing the 24 hour team mnt. bike thing in Spokane with some felling stronger than normal power but then the bug hit and I felt better sorta also thought I could have a good result in the Montana State road race a week later. So here I was in apace line of 8 buzzing around ten miles from the finish line and some one having not sure inattentive moment or miss judge did a wheel overlap that never turns out good. Down he went right into my line taking me and the next person behind me down with pavement not being are friend. I lost a carbon rear wheel , a ruptured left thumb ligament, broken wrist and grade 3 ac tear on my left shoulder, how about that for fun and wishing I hadn't gone to this race. We all hit this thought after these kind of results.
After a few weeks off the bike I caught up with hiking the great trails we are blessed with around the Zoo. Then after growing back a set I un cradled and jumped back on the bike slowly at first. The mnt. bike is pretty owey like on the wrist still. it took me about three months before I felt like given a race a go but in September I went to a Spokane event with a down town night crit that was big pucker at times with dark spots through out the corse. Came out enthused and un scaved sport en a second behind Jim Williams who won the Inland Empire series.
Sense I have only done a couple of races in cross , doin ok but just not felling it much. Hopefully i get the race bug back. For now just cruisen the great pavement and fantastic trail around Corvallis Oregon works for me.
Hang en in Oregon right now tryen to like the lack of sun and abundance of rain . Thing is you can always get out to hike even in the rain . I 'm not the health club type but been hitten it lately with huge muscle results, right...
Well hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and keep everything between the lines. ML

Things sence last blog 2012
So I'm back . I have gotten a spot busy in the last 2 months, hence the blog vapor. Seems to me time is in vapor mode especially when I am back at work .
When I first got back the center of the universe I spent a fair amount time catching up with family and friends then it was off to work while trying to keep some biker fitness and actually big change this year so far I have had more drive, fresher legs, a bigger will to ride hard and fast and the way of getting past the pain some better which if I new how that worked and could always repeat it , I don't know that I would share the knowledge.
I have already raced 5 times this year with a few good results some which being on the roll and some to moving down to the B masters in some races cause I can and the 58 in my age with 40 year old in the A's doesn't come out in my favor much anymore.
I 've done the Rubias which is a bumpy gravel and pavement Corce then off to Bear mouth road race a couple weeks later , this is a great road ride and race. Then I tried my hand at the scratch gravel mountain bike race in Helena . It went well , the racing in the two's is tuff and lots of numbers , they were cool enough to make a saporet masters 40 plus category so guys like Schultz who had been moved to cat one's so he was in with 11 others.next up was the Heroin Park mountain bike race in Kalispel and that coarse was stellar hard with a crap load of climbing and as much descending with out a spot of rest. Gonna give this race an extreme Zap buster mark , it had it all. Made me wanna wine and complain. So for the most recent race during memorial weekend I cruised over to Spokane with my team of nine and half legs to do the 24 hour round the clock race at Riverside Park.
A good venue to just watch the festive time , bring family and friends. The soilders on this team are Mark the spark Rinesel, Bill 1.5 Simmel, Bill stiches Shultz, Pat Scharfeinater and ur blog man .Longy.We had this same group last year with the same good results so don't fix what aint broke right.
This year we started with a tumble on preride the day before the event, with our main man Schultzie going down with up close to mother earth and needing 8 stitches after. Then during race day at night on The Devils Drop again Stitches had a bite on mother earth and a mouth full of Trek Super Fly , fattening a lip and scuff in the face. he defiantly gets vowler awards for keep en the rubber side down and up.
We rode from 6 min. behind at one time to hovering around 8 an 10 min ahead then in the end even with pat going for jump style points and com in down to bill's side of the earth and loosen about a min we
still pulled off around a 20 min. win over our Washintonion nimis from last year and there this year excesses, nice fun and very competitive team to race against. Then there was Cosmic Miller and his flavor flav group also from Washington that had the win in flamboyancy and the Fabio wanna be vibe. So come next year to not miss a thing except the kick ass cold I got last year and again this year, poor me ,but really what THE ???
